one of those.

one of those days-the good ones. i woke up early and got ready for class. on the way to class, i almost drove head-long into a coyote, dashing across the street. i slowed down just in time to not only not hit it, but appreciate how beautifully it flew over my neighbor's fence. it kept looking at me while it ran off, while i kept looking at it. some sort of mutual feeling was passed, i am sure. awe, beauty, and terror. on both ends. i have heard from a few people that coyotes are becoming increasingly numerous in these parts, as well as increasingly pesky. i've only seen them a few times out here, but when i do, they are usually running from the neighborhood across the street...which is quite odd [to me anyways].
when i got to class, our teacher was out, so we had a substitute. she anounced that we only had to take a test and then we were dismissed. i ended up leaving school at 9:15am as opposed to my usual 2:30pm(ish) typical tuesday dismissal time. it was lovely, because i got to use the time and stop by chick-fil-a to visit my wonderful caleb. now i am home, about to do some studying and finish up my blogging for the day. unfortunately that wonderful caleb i was talking about has my laptop, so i get to use his. not horrible, though, because i know how to use his just fine. the password to log on was kind of tricky, but when i thought about it for a minute, i produced the perfect password, and the computer logged me on. smart guy, that caleb is. alright. off to do daily activities. i miss blogging...hmmm...maybe i should blog more...

absence?

it's been a while since i even checked my blog. apologies all around! i've been busy, as you can see. with this ring on my finger and a wedding at the end of july, i haven't had as much time as the college student i was back in missouri. talk about a crazy life currently. crazy, but wonderful. with a name-change in a month from tomorrow, life is about to get even more crazy, right?
now that you know the reason for my absence, i can proudly say that i am moved in on my farm. living with my best friend, genel, until i'm married and she has to leave. we are raising twenty-six chicks and sixteen (adult) chickens. all of them-of course-are free range chickens. between my dove and genel's rabbit, and the horse we've been housing since i moved here ("methuselah" leaves us tomorrow), i'd say we could run an interesting zoo. we'll see if i can talk caleb into letting me get some more animals that'll help us be self sustaining.
exciting season, and i'm hoping that i'll be able to update this more often now that the farm has internet.

chicken run

you remember watching that movie as a kid, but never imagined that you'd become one of those "evil" humans who keeps chickens for their eggs. well...it's been a while since i updated my blog, so i figured that i might as well write about the latest up-comings in the family.
we bought a farm.
it's taken a lot of work so far, and i can't even say that we are probably a tenth of the way done with fixing up the houses, but it'll be simply lovely when it gets finished. not only do we have wonderful property, but we also inherited an old horsie, whom we dubbed the name "methuselah" because of his old age. you can't forget the chickens..all nineteen of them. there was an annoying and loud rooster, but nobody knows what happened to him.
i told dad that we need an alpaca..just for kicks [chuckle chuckle..literally] and because they're cute and fluffy. honestly, though, we'll probably stick to more decent animals that don't require de-fluffing. maybe we'll get honeybees or something of the sort.
i've been working on cleaning out the house i am living in for the past two days. my boyfriend, caleb, took me to the gym with him on monday, and i thought i was going to die when i was fixing up the house yesterday [tuesday]. tomorrow, mom and i are going to start the inside painting process for the smaller house so that can be finished before we put the new carpet in.
the lady who lived in the small house before us was a "master gardener" and also knew basically everything about birds...she left lots of little bird houses in the yard and told us how to keep the plethora of birds in our area eating at our bird feeders. it literally always sounds like morning outside the house because birds are always chirping and flirting with each other. perhaps this sounds annoying to you, but actually it is delightful to have nature right at your fingertips. my dove, piper, is going to be thrilled with all of her new bird friends that live right outside of the porch.
that's another thing...we have porches on the house..three screened-in porches. piper is going to live on one of them in the spring and summer and beginning of fall so she can enjoy the scenery and bird noises...unless she gets stressed out, then she'll live back inside the living room.
i want to post more as the farm progresses, and i would love to post pictures...i just need to bring my camera there sometime while we are there.

ihop

i had the privilege this last Sunday to sing with my friend, Adam, at the International House of Prayer in KC. you can't imagine how thankful i was for such an opportunity. i have really missed singing, and so i was blessed to get to sing, especially with such a great team! thank You, Jesus!

oh my ears.

the sad day when you lose your favourite gauge, so you have to mix-match them until you can afford new ones..
[and the even scarier day when you decide to wear tiedye out in public again...]

decisions decisions.

every time that i come to that place in life where i have to make decisions, my brain has a melt-down and i can't think logically. call it weird or whatever, but it always happens to me in transitions. usually sitting and thinking it through when nobody else is around is calming because it gives me time to put my head on straight, talk to the Lord, and then cry it off for a few minutes. i used to bite my nails, but since that helps nothing, i improved my method to lying down and breathing in and breathing out. haha. maybe it's a girl thing, but if i pet a dog or a cat in the process, that usually helps too. too bad the only dog we have smells funny.
by tomorrow, i should have my books for classes and by tomorrow evening, i might have started catching up on assignments. Probably nearly 200 pgs. in books need to be read, three separate short essays need to be written, and thirty minutes on hands-on work need to be done.
did i mention that i lost my gauges? sad day. now i have to wear those ugly spike ones until i either find the one i lost or buy new ones. probably not buy new ones unless i randomly get given money for some odd job. back to ze spikes.

whirlwind.

this week. oh my. can i just say that this week was absolutely splendid. if i gave it to you in detail, you'd probably think i was the most blessed girl on planet earth. i have such an amazing family and wonderful friends. all of these are seemingly dreadful pictures because they were taken on my phone...unfortunately i left my camera in missouri..but these will do. oh...i have no idea why they're sideways. *grumblegrumblecellphonegrumble*.

one of my "little" brothers.

most delicious drink you'll ever touch to your lips.

cuddles.

i am so excited. ( tomorrow i have most of the day off...and i get to sleep in! ) after a pathetic day - on my behalf - because i kept falling asleep. seriously. i didn't know it was possible to fall asleep sitting up, listening to lectures. i somehow managed to stay awake for mr. hood's two hour lecture on the old testament theophanies, which was quite wonderful. buying groceries took forever today, thanks to cheyenne and me being ridiculously slow in the store. when you have nights off, you don't take them for granted - especially when you realize that tomorrow you can sleep in!

what i really need to do now is homework. uh. you didn't see anything. speaking of seeing things, i saw a fox right outside my car when i was unloading the groceries and carrying them into my house. chey and i kind of attempted to contain a squeal, but the fox still took off like a bullet. bummer. i was hoping to keep it as a pet. ( kidding. )

since my hair is getting longer, i have been so tempted to cut it all off. however, i figure that i can manage it for at least another year, and then i'll re-evaluate. although, you never know how long that resolution will stand firm. OH NO! i was afraid for a moment that it was my brother's birthday and it had slipped my mind. three more days - phew - i am not a horrible sister. the "pretty" note ( aka: ruined! ) in one of my previous posts was a picture of the original card and envelope that i created for him...but my water bottle had an accident all over it, and i had to re - create his lovely card. ( the second one was better. ) he'll probably be disappointed when he reads the card and shakes the envelope, only to realize that there is no money. ( sorry, kibbs. i am a poor little missionary! )

going to call it a night in a few, just got a couple more things to do before i can sleep. sweet cuddles.
